There are two types of a problem that can be solved with a special system cleaning tool:
- Your MacBook Pro is too slow
- The hard drive of your MacBook Pro is constantly at its minimum
Actually, these two points depend on each other. When free space on your MacBook Pro is always on the minimal level, various types of disasters may occur. And there are different reasons why you are constantly losing space on a hard drive. But the main thing you need to know is that any disk no matter of its type, speed, and volume needs to be cleaned regularly. And that is why you need to learn how to clean a Mac Book Pro. This procedure will keep your Mac out of junk, and its speed will stay at the proper level.
And the first thing you need to start with is the space itself. You should access Apple Menu and choose Storage in the About this Mac section. In this directory, you will see the clear picture of those files and stuff that use your computer’s memory. It may be various applications and files both necessary and unnecessary for you.
What Should You Clean Up
1. Caches
The first thing you need to clean up is cache. Those files are very cunning and can occupy up to 20 gigabytes of your hard disk. And there is one way of how to clean a Mac Book Pro cache manually:
You need to follow this path first:
Open the Finder → go to Library folder → Caches subfolder.
In this section, you will find all the cache files for the applications installed on your MacBook. Then you need to enter each app’s folder and clean its cache files manually.
2. Downloads folder
Due to our experience, we know that not even a half of users know how to clean a Mac Book Pro. But what is even more disturbing, most of them don’t even realize that it is important to clean the Downloads folder at least periodically. The number of files there can be really huge. What are those files there for? Nothing. It is just junk you need to get rid of. Especially those disk images. So, delete them: just go to Finder, open the Downloads folder, and type “disk image” in the search field. Then you will see all the .dmg and .iso files on the list. Delete them if you don’t need them anymore.
3. Old backups of devices in iTunes
So, what is next? If you’re a fan of iTunes, and you, probably, are, there is something you should know. The program creates copies of devices. And sometimes space those files may take raises up to 40 gigabytes! So, to get rid of them you need to access iTunes. In the Preferences section select Devices and check if the clutter on it is removed. It should be removed to iCloud to free your disk space.
4. Startup apps
Most of us, no matter if you are a Mac or PC user, love those self-starting applications. Usually, we have tons of additional apps on our computers, and some of them start automatically when the system launches. All those programs are running their processes in the background so you can’t see them. But your MacBook’s system starts slowing down very noticeably. All those scanners, synchronizations, updates, and checkers are the reason why your Mac is slow even if its characteristics are superb.
To avoid this, you need to reduce the number of apps that start along with the system and just open them when needed. So, just find those apps in the list of Startup items and remove points you don’t need.
One Useful Note
Also, there is a quicker way to clean your MacBook Pro. You need to get a special cleaning utility such as MacFly Pro, for example. It will clean your system and memory quickly and easily without any additional actions from you. As there is more than meets your eye, it is hard to clean everything manually. Lots of programs leave junk files and other trash you will never find unless you’re a pro user. But such app as MacFly Pro will do a proper cleaning job without any special skills’ requirements.
We hope these notes will make your working process easier and faster as you can use them manually. But, if you need to get the best result or your MacBook is too full of junk, such apps like MacFly Pro are highly recommended.

How to clean my Mac using these tips?
One thing I learned about cleaning my Mac computer is that I can set a schedule or do a routine Mac to solve any computer-related issues. But then, with so many data, you’ll never know which files should be deleted and which ones should be retained, especially those back-up files. Some of these data appear as executable applications, which are rarely used at all. Since these take up space, they can be wiped away by deleting them manually or uninstall their original application.
Aside from those data files, I noticed that Mac computers store cache files, browser temporary details, and other applications that carry dangerous codes like malware and Trojan viruses. Because you browse any website innocently, you’ll never know when these viruses lurk inside your computer. And once it’s there, it’s too late. These files also take half of my disk space, so I make sure that I include them in the scheduled cleaning or if I can do it manually during one of my routine clean ups.
Another thing I have noticed from my Mac computer is that some applications are in need of an update. Although some of these apps can be activated automatically, but there are some where I should do the deed and activate them. Still, most of these applications are deemed unnecessary, so it would also be best to clear them out of the computer and make sure they are not stored inside the recycle bin. Most people I know mistakenly never clear their recycle bin – which means their computers are still slow because it’s still taking up space!
These tasks may be burdensome at times especially when I’m too concerned with safety precautions. There are instances where I’m scared of deleting files because I may be deleting the wrong application – and there might be consequences when doing the deed. Also, another concern is that deleting viruses and malwares are very difficult especially if I don’t know how to determine them. Spyware problems and these pop-ups are even worse, making my Mac even slower.
To make things easier, I clean my Mac with the help of cleaning software, utility tools, by installing anti-malware and a few spam preventing applications that should be of great importance. A Mac cleaner is really reliable as it scans your computer and filters unwanted applications and performs a scheduled maintenance.
A weekly task to carry out while I clean my Mac
In the past, one of the mistakes I do while using my Mac is that I never do a regular maintenance because I easily forget it. I’m forced to perform any maintenance when I realize that my Mac is getting slower due to heavy disk space. This practice should not be tolerated especially if I want to keep my Mac for longer periods. So this time, I make an effort to clean my Mac every week by compiling a list of rarely used applications and get rid of them. Some of the data may still be stored somewhere inside your computer, so it’s a bit tricky to find them and manually remove them. The only way for me to delete them is use the search finder until I find what I’m looking for. I delete them and clear out the recycle bin.
Another burden I faced was when I encountered a lot of malware problems and Trojan horse viruses because not only it slows down my Mac, but it completely shuts down the computer. In this case, I do some searching for unwanted applications, find the actual origin of these viruses and other data, and wipe them away using a Mac cleaner. It’s also helpful to check the system files for applications which are rarely used and uninstall them.
When I choose a Mac cleaner to clean my Mac, I make sure that its tools can carry out a scheduled maintenance system. The very reason why I schedule them is because there are instances when I tend to forget cleaning my Mac due to some unforeseen circumstances. Also, Mac cleaners are capable of figuring out damaged files and fix applications if needed be. However, picking the right Mac cleaning device takes a lot of research; finding a reliable Mac cleaner that performs well should be the main priority so that the computer runs faster.
Guidelines on a system clean up to clean my Mac computer smoothly
When I keep on using my Mac computer for a longer period, there will come a time when the computer decelerate and somehow, will refuse to perform properly. If you have encountered such issue and you think it’s better to replace it with a brand, new Mac computer, it’s your choice. I, however, feel that it’s a waste of time buying a new one when it can be fixed in other ways – such as doing maintenance cleaning!
If there are cases where your computer is lagging, reformat your system. The process of reformatting can e a bit longer especially when you have to manually install other important applications which are needed for the computer. A very good Mac cleaner should do the trick to clean the system, wipe out unwanted files and data, and increase the Mac speed.
For safety precautions, I always back up my computer before I start to clean my Mac computer. You should do the same if the same scenario happens in the future.
